$12 Uneetee: Pseudo Phantasy

1 penny earned

A confusing melange of batik-style animal prints, female body parts and shapes galore -- the design is decent but suffers from a few fatal flaws. The black blotch in the center, for example, while accentuating the face and body of the woman, is a little heavy-handed considering the already busy nature of this print.

Michael Siew Han Woo, based on his history at Uneetee, is one artist who both profits and suffers under the weight of intensely crafted handiwork. If he were able to break out of the "printer's box of design death" his art would probably find a larger and more appreciative audience. On the other side of the spectrum we have a t-shirt that uses simplicity and impressions to create a romantic's dream teeshirt. Budi Satria Kwan has created a Van Goghian night-time lassoing adventure piece that is much easier to parse and cute without being "cutesy."

It's your $10 alternative option today, if you so desire...

I have the star lasso shirt and love it, but, I must admit the Pseudo Phantasy shirt intrigues me.

I love the style of the animals and a lot of the other original design here. The only concern that I have is that there is so much of it going on. I would prefer less, and some color, perhaps a different color t as well.
However, lately what I've been seeing across different sites are shirts that seem to be carbon copies of one another or just flat-out boring.

Speaking as an artist, had I the skillz computer artwise, I would explore so many different venues. I suppose birds/skulls/trees sell but there is such a thing as oversaturation.

I also think parodying that oversaturation is lame too.

Whew, ok, rant over.

I like this shirt as I feel it has more original elements than most of the same old same old I see lately.
I may just buy it; we'll see if the budget allows.
