Poll: Do we talk too much?

Those of you who visit often know we're always looking for ways to better serve the t-shirt deal and coupon loving community, so please take a minute to help us figure out what works best for you.

Do you feel that our wordiness sometimes gets in the way of the discounts?

Would you prefer a more succinct website à la The Awesomer? Which is, by the way, a great site to check out if you haven't been there already.
As you can see by the above image, this poll is currently closed -- but your comments are always appreciated.

It's obvious you don't like Shirt-a-Day, and quite honestly I'm not a fan either. I feel like they're in a lower class than say Uneetee or Woot. I could do without them in my feed reader every day.

But maybe it would be cool to have all of today's shirts in one post.

I'm with Justin, I would love not to have SaD entries in my RSS reader. I wouldn't change anything else.

I like the format and appreciate the commentary. I haven't been receiving the RSS feed, I usually just browse the site.

What Justin said. I'd rather see some other sites than SaD although they can be good as a reference, in order to like mediocre shirts a lot better. And it's fun to make fun of them or read the commentary.

The format and commentary themselves are nice, I keep coming back to check the site at least once a day. Keep up the good work :)

I really appreciate the commentary. I think there is great value to hear the opinions of someone who looks at t-shirts all damn day (seriously, I could only maybe do a month of Shirt-a-Day before blowing my brains out).

So keep chattering. If anything, I would like to see more comments in the penny jar.

Maybe I'm just overly verbose, but less commentary would make this site a picture book. As someone who checks most of these sites nightly anyway, having more rather than less commentary makes trips here worth it. I can't see myself spending much time checking in if I'm only getting the bare bone basics.

And I continue to give a thumbs-up to your Shirt-A-Day reviews. It's like Goofus and Gallant in old Highlights magazines... you know exactly what Goofus is going to do, and you don't approve of it as such, but the sheer over-the-top lameness is worth commenting on.

I like checking here to see opinions whether delivered by the awesome staff (no I'm not kissing up! I like your insights and snark) or the readers. Sometimes it helps me put things in perspective, confirms what I feel or even helps me see something a bit differently.
So, don't change, please. I love this site.

Thank you all for your insight and advice. It is reassuring the hear that you're not sick of reading our daily ramblings (and that some of you even come here for them).

To answer some of you more directly:
Justin and Anonymous -- you can now get your SoS fix via RSS without the SaD updates. Just subscribe to this filtered feed instead.

Do we really have readers named "Prof Pew" "CaptainKabob" who commented near each other without any sort of reference to their humorous names? Any recommendations for how we can get more pennies in the jar, CK, are appreciated. Perhaps it's time for another Comment Appreciation Month promotion (hmmmm...a semi-annual event)??

Oh yeah, Adder, you do love to talk...and we love to hear it. Often I slap myself in the forehead after reading your much longer and more laudatory reviews of shirts we've covered with barely a mention. Keep on keeping t-shirt makers and designers honest!

SD -- you'll always have a special place in our hearts no matter how much kissing up you do ;) Thanks for the kind words and support.

The poll is still open! If you haven't voted yet, hit the sidebar and let us know what you think.

I like the commentary and I don't think it's too long, but...I often feel like the people writing it are t-shirt snobs. A little criticism is fine, but it really does seem like the vast majority of the commentary is negative, which makes me wonder, 1) why list all these shirts with basically the disclaimer "Uh, look, if you like this that's cool, but why would any of you actually want it?" and 2) t-shirt elitists? Really? Isn't that an oxymoron?

(Negative commentary on ShirtADay is cool, because they generally deserve it. But most of the daily designs from TeeFury, Unetee, and Woot seem to get relatively negative reviews almost across the board, from what I've seen.)

Otherwise, though, I think it's great--I love what you guys are doing.

I hear exactly what you're saying, Kyra. You can't blame anyone else here at SoS for the negativity, though -- I've noticed this prejudice in my writing lately. It has, sadly, been less than inspired.

Thanks for your honest criticism. If you'll take a look back at the past few days, I think you'll notice the spark initially present in this site being slowly fanned back to life.

I do have to argue against any sort of "snobby" designation, though. That implies we think one opinion is more deserving of voice than another...and we really don't.
