ShirtaDay: 01.20.2013 - End of an Error

5 pennies earned

Wow. I'm impressed. For once SaD has a shirt that's got me scratching my head.

"01.20.2013 - End of an Error..." Huh. I'm really not sure what to make of this. My first instinct is to say perhaps they are getting at the computer error that might have happened when we hit the new millennium. But that seems a little odd, considering in this shirt it's 2013.

My other guess is that it has something to do with the December 21, 2012 phenomenon. The one that's gotten so much hype, that there's now going to be a blockbuster film about it.

Why 01.20.2013 would be the end of an error, I'm still not sure. Maybe because it's far enough away from 2012, not to be thrown in with the disaster scenario?

Or is it just somewhat arbitrary?

Methinks they're talking about the end of Obama's first term in office.

Which is a bit premature, considering he may easily get reelected (or resign, or die before the end of his term).

But lol witty political humor

It's also a bit derivative, considering the whole "end of an error" thing seemed to originate with dubya. Of course, that's just in my recollection, and may even predate the biggest "dark ages" of modern America.

It is most definitely a reference to the inauguration of a new president. January 20, 2009 was when Obama was inaugurated. Obama's approval numbers are seriously slipping right now, and some people are feeling buyer's remorse.

So, tomorrow they're going to have a "No Mo' 'Bama" shirt if this one sells well?
